Lost Tablets use carefully selected, often single-colour pieces to create architectural forms inspired by columns, arches and pediments.
The work explores upcycling and the creative process, with Van Schaik saying the LEGO pieces sometimes seem to determine the final shape themselves. His sculptures sell for $3500 each, challenging perceptions of LEGO as simply a children's toy.
